We strive to deliver individual wines of flavour, character and balance by working with low yielding vineyards and using minimal wine making techniques to preserve the vineyard's natural goodness.

The Wanderer is made by Andrew Marks who is based at his family vineyard, Gembrook Hill, in the Upper Yarra Valley.


The Wanderer Upper Yarra Pinot Noir 2017

Single vineyard wine from Yellingbo, at the Southern end of the Yarra Valley. Cane pruned MV6 clone on volcanic red soil with Nth Eastern aspect at 200m elevation.

20% whole bunches. Cold soak and fermentation in open fermenters. Wild ferment. Hand plunged. Large format oak. 30% new Damy Alliers French oak for 11 months on lees. Tasted frequently touched rarely.

The Wanderer Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2018

Single vineyard wine from Yellingbo in the Upper Yarra. A blend of two plots of vines within the same vineyard. Abel Clone, reputed to come from Domain Romani Contee via New Zealand in a gumboot. On chocolaty red marl. MV6, the tried and true Yarra Valley Pinot Clone, on volcanic red soils. Both plots cane pruned and hand picked.

Entirely destemmed. Cold soak and fermentation in open fermenters. No yeast added. Hand plunged. Large format oak with 11 months on lees. Estate bottled.

The Wanderer Yarra Valley Shiraz 2015

Single vineyard wine from Dixons Creek at the North end of the Yarra Valley. Spur and cane pruned 35 year old vines on shallow loam over heavy clay soils. Easterly aspect at 160m elevation.

10% whole bunches. Warm ferment to 37C in open fermenters. Selected yeast. Hand plunged. Only old large format oak. On lees for 11 months. Superb.

The Wanderer Upper Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2018

The Wanderer Chardonnay comes from the same vineyard as our Upper Yarra Pinot Noir. Cane pruned Penfolds clone vines. The grapes were whole bunch pressed then run into barrel with full solids the next day. Wild fermentation, left on lees without stirring until bottling. Fermentation and elevage in old french barrels. Only two barrels made a puncheon 500L and a hogshead 300L.

El Wanderer

El Wanderer is a single vineyard wine made from hundred year old bush vine Carinyena vines. Carinyena is the local Catalan word for Carignan, a red grape variety found along the Mediterranean rim that produces medium bodied fragrant wines of rustic charm.

The vineyard from which this wine is made was crafted in a very special part of the world. The Emporda is a little known wine region an hour and a half north of Barcelona. It is in the north eastern most corner of Spain, right at the French border.

Catalunya and France

The Melbourne Gin Company

A fascination with the notion of the unattainable ideal drink led to a series of trials and experiments, a journey into the alchemy of batch distillation. Each botanical is individually distilled and then blended to our recipe, essentially a winemaker's approach. We use a copper pot bain-marie alembic still, traditionally used for making perfume, to preserve the delicate nature of the botanicals.

You will no doubt recognise the juniper berries and coriander seeds associated with London Dry Gin. The classic foundations are blended with local botanicals of macadamia, sandalwood, honey lemon myrtle, rosemary, grapefruit and navel orange; as well as exotics of angelica root, orris root and cassia bark.

The final component is the water - rainwater from Gembrook in the Yarra Ranges, 60km from Melbourne, with a purity that allows the botanicals to shine through.

We think the combination of local botanicals combined with a sense of history and a touch of the exotic makes MGC a uniquely Melbourne Dry Gin.
